Earlier this week I went white water rafting in Washington State. There were 5 people in the raft with a guide/instructor. We were asked if we wanted to go over a 14′ waterfall, told the pros and cons and given about a minute to makeup our minds…

We didn’t have time to think about all the things that could go wrong. We basically had to grab our fear by the throat, trust our guide and the info he had given us and go for it! That was the point! We did not have time to worry about all that might go wrong.

This scenario isn’t very different from what happens with new internet marketers, unfortunately most new internet marketers spend way too much time thinking about what to do, what could go wrong, how they could fail, don’t set any goals and don’t have a trusted mentor/instructor to follow.

At some point, after getting a base of knowledge and/or finding a good mentor, you just have to go for it. Yes, you might fail and flip your raft over, but you learn from your mistakes and move forward. Failing is not easy, but just like the other 5 people in my raft, you are not alone. Even your mentor will fail, they just know how to recover quicker and make adjustments.

Here is a key point. Get good at one thing before you jump to the next thing.

Most out there never really get any good at one specific thing. They distract themselves over and over again. They continue to be only 10% good at a ton of things, but never 90% good at one, very specific, thing…10% good is not good enough. Eric Louviere

Your 90% good can be in PPC, website design, copywriting, driving free traffic, whatever you choose. The key here is once you are 90% good at it, there are a bunch of people out there that are 10% good at it and would love to partner with you or pay for your skill.

We went over that waterfall, scared but excited. One man fell out, but we all agree it was the ride of our lives…. Climb in your raft, find a mentor to help you paddle and TAKE ACTION! Give yourself permission to fail because you will. Look at it like discovering the things that don’t work, so you are that much closer to success.

Many people decide everyday to make money online.  That decision takes about a second.  And in the next second the question is asked, “But what do I sell?”  There are many different ways to make money online.  But what are they?

Here are a few make money online options.  But remember, they all require effort on your part.  There are no get rich quick schemes.

Sell Products – These products can be your own products or someone else’s and they can be information products like ebooks or physical products.  If you are looking for products to sell there are many affiliate networks to choose from.  Here are a couple to get you started.

Sell Services – either locally or on a wider scale.  These services could be  local grass cutting within your own town or creating website graphics for companies & individuals.  The list is endless on what services you can sell.

Sell Nothing – This is better known as CPA (cost-per-action).  This is where companies pay you to get visitors to their website and enter some type of information.  This information can be an email address or a zip code.  That’s all it takes to make a commission.  There are several CPA networks out there including:

azoogleads.com and clickbooth.com

Sell Websites – This is great for those of you who know how to create websites.  But, it even works for those of you who are technically challenged.  You can buy a website at one site and then resell it for a profit at another site.  Check out these sites for buying and selling: digitalpoint.com, flippa.com, webmaster-talk.com. Write Articles – Why didn’t I lump this into the “sell services” topic?  Because I wanted to highlight it.   Develop or master a skill while getting paid. Then apply that skill to your own online money making.  Creating content is something you will have to do no matter what you do on the internet.  If you can master that skill while getting paid for it, that is an awesome thing.

What do you have to  offer?  Now, stop with the “I don’t have anything to offer anyone” junk.  We all have interest and skills.  Whether you are technical or not, you have something to offer that someone is looking for.

It might be as simple as time.  There are people all over the internet that don’t have enough time to do whatever they are trying to accomplish.  So offer them a hand and learn while you earn.  And don’t try to make your fortune off of them.  Offer them a reasonable rate or a cheap rate to get your foot in the door and they will teach you a skill that again you can apply to your own future endeavours on the web.  How do you find these people?

You can either contact people directly or put a listing on Craigslist.com,  elance.com, digitalpoint.com or any other website or forum that you can advertise the service you have to offer.  There are alot of  “make money online” websites and experts out there.  Start contacting them and offering your services.  If you have examples of work you’ve done, have them available to provide a potential employer.
